What actually matters

Support the grips, not the sticks. A cradle that presses on the thumbsticks will wear the tension springs over time.
Keep the base wide. Two controllers sit high and a narrow base tips the moment you grab one.
Add felt pads underneath if it sits on a glass desk — bare PLA slides.

Does it fit Xbox and PlayStation controllers?

Both, since the grip spacing is similar. Very large third-party controllers may need a wider cradle.
