Filament Dry Box Insert
Wet filament is behind more failed prints than any other single cause — stringing, popping, weak layers. A sealed box with desiccant fixes it, and the printed part is the roller assembly that lets the spool turn while the lid stays shut.

What actually matters
- The seal matters more than the rollers. A perfect roller assembly in a box that does not close tightly still lets filament absorb moisture.
- Use colour-indicating silica gel so you can see when it needs regenerating rather than guessing.
- Set the roller spacing so the spool cannot climb out when the filament pulls — too far apart and it jumps the rollers.
Questions
Does this really improve prints?
For PETG, nylon and TPU, dramatically. PLA is less sensitive but still benefits after a few humid months.
Which box should I use?
Any airtight box tall enough for a spool. Generate the insert to your box's internal dimensions.
